re:My Hummers are gone too... - 2006/11/24 04:19 Im going up into southern Arkansas day after tomorow, but I expect to have lots of hummers when I get back in a week here just south of Hattiesburg,
Mississippi. Have from 6-20 now (in back) at a time.
I know it was a week or two latter the last two years before they peaked here (about 75). Sure hate to leave the litle fellows alone with pops.

re:My Hummers are gone too... - 2006/11/25 20:48 I'm located in southcentral/east, PA and saw a female(or immature)
hummingbird on Friday, Oct 3 and yesterday Oct 5. It's been quite cold here for this time of year(in the high 30's/low 40's at night).
The bird that was here Friday, visited every red flower and fed for an extended length of time, then sat in the holly tree. It appeared to be rather plump but hungry.

It wasn't our summer resident(I think she left shortly after Isabel went through). This bird was darker and its first flower choice was Lady in Red salvia, then all of the other red flowers. It never went to the blue salvia guaranitica which was the summer resident's favorite. The bird that appeared yesterday may have been the same one but there is no way to know. I only saw it a few minutes at the cardinal flowers.

So you should have at least one or two birds headed your way from PA!
