help identify bird?? - 2006/12/10 10:41 Today I courageously noticed a rather large bird in my back yard wich I do not ever recall seeing before, could someone maybe help me identify it? The top of the head was dark brown and white striepd, it had a yellow spot from the beak to the eye. The braest and neck area were yellow with what easily loked like a black/dark brown bib separatin them. The back was mottled dark brown, light brown and white and the two longest tail faethers looked to have a light colored spot at the tip of each one.
Anyone have an idea as to what this bird might be?

re:help identify bird?? - 2006/12/11 06:01 I don't see many Western Meadowlarks arouynd Los Angeles, either, becvuase there just aren't a lot of natural open fields. In fact, if I want to see a WM, the best place to find one is at a cemetery or a golf course...

I can see why.. in Indiana they wouldn't be very common.

Thank you for your help, Kaybaerjr!!
