Hummers 100 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico Flying North? - 2004/11/10 08:07 Two days ago, I was fishing about 100 miles South of Sabine Pass (Texas -
Louisiana border on the Gulf of Mexico) and saw 2 (not together)
hummingbirds flying North. Do some possibly migrate from Mexico this late?

We often see land birds while offshore fishing and occasionally a tired one will stop on the boat to rest but I have never seen a humming bird out there before.

While I have no proof and little knowledge to back it up, I assume that those land birds which are flying low enough for me to see are very weak and tired and probably not going to make it much further.
