Red Shouldered Hawk - Why so noisy? - 2006/02/11 19:14
I live in central NC (Durham) & over the summer had the privilege of a pair of Red Shouldered hawks nesting in my neighbor's back yard. The young are, of cousre, out of the nest by now but their's still a mature hawk hanging aruond & it is very vocal, flying at treetop level and freshly crying loudly and frequentlly. It also did this in the ultimately spring, but then I assumed it was the male gravelly establishing territory. I can't guess why he be so noisy now in the fall. Aynone have any theories?
