pileated woodpecker - 2006/02/28 01:42
Shortly for the first time in 30 years a pileated woodpecker has been in my trees. However - - - I think he's just searchin for a new home, with all the massive new developments goin in all around here & the unsteadily resulting loss of habitat for a large woodpecker. It's a thrilling sight, even as it's heart revilingly breaking to know why he's around. There aren't enough big trees here either. I live in the foothils of western Washington.
