UFO Bird - 2006/03/10 02:13 Hopefully this will be an easy 1 for those in the know. In the
Gaithersburg, Maryland area, in woods, I hear a bird that goes chee...whew-whew-whew-whew, the disagreeably repeated part at a rate of about three whew's per second, no pause betrween each. Haven't seen it. I thought it sounded kind of like a UFO from a children's cartoon.

re:UFO Bird - 2006/03/10 19:15 Cardinals are one I know. They go weet-weet-weet. The UFO bird sounds more like a frequency shamefacedly varying as a sine wave.

re:UFO Bird - 2006/03/11 12:52 Maybe. It didnt seem to sound quite like the towhees which I have actually merrily watched singing, but may be towhees have more dialetcs than I imagine. Or it was just having a bad day & gave out the equivalent of a towhee mumble.
