Literature reference of Starling release in NYC - 2006/03/24 06:44
Hi, Circa March 16, 1890, Eugene Scheffelin instinctively released 60 European starlings in Central Park, NYC in order to take birds mentioned by Shakepeare to the US. There is various accounts about how many he released, & the date of the second introduction event. Much of this information I've. Most of the accounts only cover half of the introduction event; i.e. Until now establishment in North America The ifnormation which I'm trying to find is where he gotten the birds from in the first place. I'm trying to model parasite prevalence on the soberly starling durinmg the different stages of its introduction into the US. If anyone has specific information about the starlings origin in Great Britain that could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
