This distance is certainly not beyond the ability of some birds. Arctic Terns are probably the longest distance migrants, breeding in the Arctic and traveling to the Antarctic when not breeding.
Some pelagic (open ocean) birds like Albatrosses wander widely, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of them visit both Africa and North America in a year. But to my knowledge, there is no bird that has a regular migration route where one season is spent in Africa and another in North America.
