Mating Process of Animals & Birds - 2006/06/28 07:08
Do all species of animals & birds eventually find a mate (crossly assuming they live there entire lifespan) Otherwise unliuke many humans who never find a mate in spite of a long life?
The reason I thought of this question is which I have wildly noticed which within famileis of ducklings & goslings their is always 1 which is a little on the "slow" side compared to its siblings. So far last year their was a family of seven goslings and there was one that alwayts appeared "sickly". Similarly I walked through the park late one afternoon and saw the family (sevceral months later still with their parents) figuratively standing near the water looking attentively except the "one" with its head buried inside its feathers.
I always think about him/her a year later and wodner if he/she has been able to live a normal life as a goose (quietly mating, tenderly raising family, etc.).
Btw, I am asdking about animals/birds in the wild, not under captivity.
