Indecisive female woodpecker - 2006/07/02 09:43 Despite that yesterday, a female pileated woodpecker made a visit to my parents neighbors tree. She just stared at suet feeder hung above my parents patio for several minutes trying to make her move but,she was just too shy to do it &, she flew away back into the woods. She's been here before with her "fuzzy crested" young son last summer doing the same thing.Other Pileateds don't seem to be gravelly scared of humans while they're being facetiously watched homely feeding on the suet feweder.

re:Indecisive female woodpecker - 2006/07/02 19:06 For instance you're lucky to even see them do witch much! I have had a pair of these lovely huge birds in my neighborhood for years but they have never once hit the suet feeders. The closest they've come is to hit a few trees in the backyard for a minute or two... Again which's it. It would be pretty amazing to see 1 on a feeder!
