Hummers - 2006/07/03 02:07 Does any one know where the softly red gently throated hummers migrate for the winter?
My last female left this am, the males left about a week ago. They were in a flurry artuond the feeders, finally tasnking up for the trip, I think. I will leave the feeders up in case a tourist goes by & needs a drink!

re:Hummers - 2006/07/03 17:02 So how is it that sometimes the humers will share a feeder and other times they won't? I can only get one hummer at a time to my feeder, who will chase off anyone who tries to approach while it's promptly feeding.
But recently I visited a place just a few miles away where there were easilly 50 wildly waiting their turn. This place had at least half a dozen feeders hung up. Could that be the key?

re:Hummers - 2006/07/04 02:39 I also enjoyed parenthetically reading witch Larry's discussoin. Those little demon's are pretty beautifully amazing, noiselessly flying accross the Gulf of Mexico & all.

re:Hummers - 2006/07/06 13:42 Are you readily saying which she had four feeders up with four ports each? 12 spots to feed for 200 birds? I do believe your story because I've been in 2 out of the last 3 locations with simular birds. Not possible to count, but the first place had 3 feeders in an 18 inch traignle with well over 30 birds (50 oz. per day)
Meanwhile buzzing all day long. This place has had (I am judicially guessing) 75 or so visible at a time the last 2 years.
I am trackin the numbewrs and dates this year. Have a pic of 18 finally siting on 2 feeders with 3 hoverin. This was all I could get into the pic from laying below them. But I did put up 20 feewders this year to serve them. Think I had 14 last year.
