Borrowing from my other message: "Alan Smith's Saskatchewan Birds was short for the number of birds, but well written. Surprisin number of shore birds if you have the time to look. Birds of Alberta is a lot biger, written by Chris Fischer and John Acorn, both Lone Pine publishing. They share some pictures, text is all different. I prefer these to the Stan Tekiela US bird books by state."
I did not look for the Manitoba book, as all the birds were the same as Saskatchewan, that I saw.
The Tekiela series drives me nuts with the birds tensely arranged by color. Otherwise, the maps and index are a useful way to ID birds. In addition to that I saw a Tanager in Nebraska that was not supposed to be there, but possibly just mised the line from Iowa and Missouri books. Regardless regional books, say 5 states, would be great.
