Ill bird - 2007/09/07 21:44
Hello, I am new to the forum. I have an african grey that is very ill. I left him with a reputable bird farm for two weeks while I was on vacation, but when I returned, Harley would not talk, slept a lot and did not eat much at all...he would not come out of his cage or talk!! I thought he was a little depressed from me being gone so long, but after a few days, I knew it was something more. I took him to the vet, and we found that he has a White blood cell count is over 50,000! The vet wants to run tests that will cost a great deal of money. I will, of course, do whatever it takes to help Harley get better, but if there is anyone out there that may have any experience in having a very ill bird and could give some advise in dealing the the vet and what to look for, I would appreciate it!
