Stolen birds, an alarming trend. - 2008/07/14 00:35
I was drawn to this site by a newscast aired by WESH.COM here in the Orlando, Florida market. A lady who owns exotic birds had her birds stolen TWICE.
I have heard of an increase of these incidents over the last few months.
I have contacted the station with a suggestion that I am passing on here.
It is my strong belief that people are taking these birds and other animals and placing for sale ads on Craigslist.com and other similar for sale sites.
I am suggesting that those who have had this problem and those who are expert in bird identification, as well as the ability to recognize when a bird is being sold by someone who obviously does not know how to care for it and places it for sale on one of these websites, check out these ads to see if it is possable that the bird being offered for sale may be stolen.
I think that this kind of detective work by those of you in the know may help stop this kind of thing and prevent unnecessary pain to those who love these birds.
