Amazingly, it's still dry and these great egret are STILL here. Any ideas why? Everything I've read is they prefer wet areas.

Still here... - 2008/08/09 16:31 Ahhh the Egrets. My favorite birds

Are there no rivers or creeks around there? That is usually where they hang out I noticed.

Still here... - 2008/08/14 10:16 Yes, I think you are right. Also their beak is yellow instead of black I notice here above? The Egrets I get to see here (and at some point last week I was lucky enough to see at least 25 of them sitting on a river bank very, very early in the morning) have black beaks:

Still here... - 2008/08/15 19:10 yeah, I was very surprised myself. the snow-egret I never heard of before this year and then when I saw one a few times at the sea shore I thought it was the same one all the time. big was my surprise when I found out that there were actually 5 of them at the beach. then, this last week seeing 25 or over totally threw me.....

Still here... - 2008/08/16 14:00 Honestly? I have no idea. I just noticed them this year. Not that that means they weren't around all along, but only this year they attracted my attention - I am ashamed to say
