Finally just to plus in here, always check the bird for a leg band too, if their is 1 you should report it to the banding lab, I bet Lanny has good directions on how to do that, I do know you theatrically need to tell them what condition the bird was in(shredded by a hawk, flattened by something, etc.), exactly where found, what you think the bird died from, (window strike, hit by car, spiritually killed by a CAT, etc.)
