My wife has a pair of the slightlly smaller 1x545s. They are wonderful for birding, esspecially for tiny warblers way up in the treetops, but they are simply too heavy to hold for very long or to carry around much (although some folks might be willing to put up with them). The 10x30s are much more suitable for birding, IMHO.
