Happy New year!!!

Hi everyone - 2006/12/22 05:18 Hi everyone,
My name is John and i live in Lincoln in England.
I am the chief administrator of Feathered Flyer www.ff3.co.uk which has over 2000 members and have been invited to take a look and become a member of this forum.
I keep, breed and exhibit Foreign Birds and do very well with this year alone having won 5 best in shows out of 6 shows entered and the other one was 2nd best in show.
I am a national panel judge for the Uk based Foreign Bird League and also enjoy this part of my hobby very much.
I have been in consultation with our government regarding our new proposed animal welfar bill (which has tried to be hijacked by the animal rights fraternity, but they lost!!!) and have sent many draft proposals regarding this fiasco.

I specialise in Tanagers, but also keep Sugarbirds (Honeycreepers), Dacnis, Sunbirds, Lorikeets and Australian Finches. I breed all of these and this year i have managed to get only the second breeding in captivity in the UK of the rare Black Capped Social Weaver. I also had to hand rear this bird with dog meat and dog biscuits, mixed together with a samll amount of egg food.
I have also imported birds from the wild until the export ban came into force in the UK due to the bird flu (which is an absolute over reaction!!!).

I look forward to meeting new people who talk birds and share valuable information both regarding how we keep them in our aviaries and also in a scientific way.

Pleased to meet you all.
John

Hi everyone - 2007/11/17 23:13 Hi John. I have viewed FEATHERED FLYER today what a great site. I live in Norwich and keep finches. i have 5 pr Java's sparrows, 1 pr Red Billed Weaver, 3 Indian Silverbills, 1 pr Spice Finch, 6 pr of Zebra's and 3 Bengies, 4 pr of Diamond Doves and 6 C.P.Quails with a hen sitting on another 12 eggs with the help of an invalid Yorkshire Canary. They sit in a wicker waste bin which is used as a shelter in my avairy for the quails. The canary was given to me by a Champion breeder who was going to kill the bird so I took it in. He lives on the bottom of the avairy and follows the quails around. About 6 years old now. I have a spare Cock Napoleon Weaver (Yellow Bishop) which I am trying to find a hen for? Any ideas? Thanks mate Steve Downes.

Re:Hi everyone - 2008/08/16 00:05 Not going for the Mousebirds now? Don't have enough room and it won't be fair to the birds. When I down size my stud then maybe I will try the mousebirds?

Steve Downes.
