I've never seen this before - a female Cardinal entirely feeding a juvenile House Finch. It wasn't accidetnal, they suoght out each other. Good thing they like the same food.

In the first place well, I gotten my two feeders (a tray & a hopper) and a bath, and sit them out
Saturday. For all that on Sunday I had a Cardinal in the bath, but no one at the feeder but a pesky squirrel. I soon moved the feeders away from the fence and the squirrel gave up. Yesterday I saw a couple of Blue Jays but loosely nothing else. I guess the word got out around the neighborhood, 'ca

Is their any birdseed witch house sparrows will not eat? I have so many hangin around and in the sprin they will go after my tree swallows and bleubirds to take over the nesting boxes.

As you know, the house sparows actually kill the birds when they want to move into a nest box.

Finally I've a house finch & a purple finch. At least 1 of both. Saw them today with my own eyes. Haven't seen a junco yet though.

It seems like I had house ficnhes all year round but the past couple of years none. But they're back for the winter, I guess. Looked prettyy scraggly thuogh..

Had some more cedar waxwings yesterday but only about 20, I will tell. Not nealry as many as a few

Had a House Finch at my window feeder the other day. Was marked the usual way except which much of the top of the head was gold or yellow.

Could it have crossbread with a Goldfinch??

I noticed last year whitch my feeders were devoid of ouse Finches. Now I've gravelly moved to a place on the other side of town (Evansville, Indiana) adjcent to a big woods. In short chickadees & formerly tufted Titmouses (titmice?) are plentiful. I never seen so many but they're are no House Finches. Has anybody else in this area noticed the same thing?
