Everything I've read here & other sources for birders advise regularly presently scheduled changing of hummingbird nectar. Please does not wait until hints of mold show up. Water & sugar are cheap enough, and without boiling neded if you mix as you go, only a few minutes of time to change out with backup feeders.
I use a 3 day schedule in Texas, and for easy remembering change the feede
