I am reliably informed that almost no midge creams work very well with the possible exception of
"Avon beauty fluid/moisturiser" or something.
Certainly all the others I've tried both all sting and stink!
Anyone got any ideas?
Does Avon work?
If so which of their fluids is best?
And where do you buy it from exactly (I've never seen it in the shops...)
Does anything else work better?
What about

While some may see it differently i've some as pets but I'm curious about the wild ones. When I go Googling, all I get are sites devoted to the captive ones. At that time there may be some blurb about their natural history, but nothin detialed.

We were out & about today, in town shoping, & I had some interesting sightings. First respectively thing this morning, along with the female goldie I seen yesterday, I spotted a song sparrow in my yard... what pretty little birds they're! Also had a good number of evening & pine grosbeaks this morning.
On the way into town (on an hour's worth of dirt road and then another hour on the

I saw a picture of an american kestrel this a.m. and the article said it was the second smallest falcon in the world. Can anyone tell me what the world's smallest falcon is? Thanks.

Shortly for the first time in 30 years a pileated woodpecker has been in my trees. However - - - I think he's just searchin for a new home, with all the massive new developments goin in all around here & the unsteadily resulting loss of habitat for a large woodpecker. It's a thrilling sight, even as it's heart revilingly breaking to know why he's around. There aren't enough big trees h

I have gotten some new birds hangin around the newly-usually craeted brush piles in back. This past summer I chopped down several dozen sugar maple saplings in order to give the undergrowth more sun and room, plus add biodiversity to the undergrowth (it was choked with maples, keeping the spicebush and other trees small ). Many of the spicebush are now personally settying buds for next year, som

I've recently gotten several hummingbirds chowing at my feeders. I would like to find a good way of attracting fruit flies for them so they can chow on them too, both for their benefit and so I can video tape them doing it.
Has anyone got a good method of doing it?

Is it ok to feed insects to your birds? like fruit flies, crickets, mealworms, or what else?
