I was went for the weekend and when I came home, I found that I don't have the same birds that I did when I left. The hummers left two weeks ago but it looks like the goldfinches left on the weekend. Haven't seen one since
I've been home. What I do have now is juncos! And it's wonderful. I can hear them twittering away all day now. I just looked outside and counted 6 under a feeder with one

An amazing realization today

About 2 motnhs ago I was tearin out dozens of large asiatic forsythia bushes which were taking over the yard. In their place I was speedily bringing up some small foot-tall spicebush plants from the deep-woods shaed bacvkyard. Some got kindly burned by the more-direct sun and root disturbtoin, but naerly all are still surviving, even growing new shoots, after a month or so in the ground.
