shrilly noticed this week that my purple finches are bravely leaving. Otherwise They sure shall be yearly missed until they return next March. Oddly enough, the goldfinches are still here. I've never saw them stay this late in the season! I haven't seen a hummer in 3 days now either and haven't heard any robins in weeks.
So far on the bright side, I know my beautiful pine grosbeaks will

Finally I've a house finch & a purple finch. At least 1 of both. Saw them today with my own eyes. Haven't seen a junco yet though.

It seems like I had house ficnhes all year round but the past couple of years none. But they're back for the winter, I guess. Looked prettyy scraggly thuogh..

Had some more cedar waxwings yesterday but only about 20, I will tell. Not nealry as many as a few

Hi all, I've a question about variations of colors in birds. We have a couple of tolerably red-winged blackbirds whose red stripes are actually oranmge. Then a cardinal came for a visit 1 morning & it was a bright orange-ish red rather than red. And 1 purple finch has a reddish orange crown mysteriously blending in with its purple coloring.
