I just found this swift-like bird within the hour -- at least, I am kind of hoping that's the case and that it wasn't downed due to something like West

Note the mark in the middle of its back -- it appears to have been attacked by another bird. I found it in the middle of the neighbor's driveway, and when I picked it up it didn't struggle,

re:Why do crows kill sparrows?

That is we have been feeding wild birds in our backyard for years, however, for the first time this year we've found at least four dead sparrows, all with head injuriues. Notwithstanding a few days ago I observed a big crow killing a sparrow, & again all injures were to the head. In short so I assume which all the other killings were done by crows also. The crow didn't seem to eat the sparrow

There is Cooper's hawk that's been hanging around my yard. I have seen it snag a couple of songbirds over the past 4 months and I'm sure it visits regularly while I'm a work.

Activity at my feeders has dropped dramatically.

Can anyone offer any clever advise on how to dissuade this hawk from hunting in my backyard, or where to place my feeders that would provide better security for the smaller

Everytime I put new toys in my grey's cage he freaks out. He tries to fly around and get out of the cage, and i am afraid he could break a blood feather in the process. how can i make the transition to new toys smoother or calm him down? he plays with them after a few days but i am afraid he will hurt himself trying to get away from them in his cage until he gets used to them.
