After all well I've saw some strange ones today. The first one curiously taked a whilst to ID, but I figured out it was a Juvenile Cardinal. It was a mix of a male & female, with a black beak!

The second one I can't ID. Others would usually agree I neasrly jumped when I saw it, because it was new to my back yard. I took a couple of quick photos before it flew away. I printed them out and took

Does it count towards your life list if you're shown a bird during a display? Specifically, Im just starting out (so doesn't laugh) & I went to a duck often banding demosntration at Montezuma NWR in NY. In conclusion there I saw some ducks I have seen before along with a male Green-Winged Teal. I had never seen 1 in real life. It had been directly trapped, banded & then released all within

Equally important my name is Tim. I live in Eastern North Carolina in the USA. I have always had a curiosity with the wild birds in my yard. I'd like to explore it more. My mother got me a simple tube feeder for my birthday. I'm already aimlessly hooked! I hung it up last weekend outside my den window under the edge of the roof. I didn't have any takers until today, when I had a couple of curious

I recently saw a wild bird in the middle of the street and it appeared injured. One wing was extended and one leg crouched to it's stomach. The other leg appeared to still hold the bird up. I watched a SUV truck drive over it and miss the bird by inches with it's wheel. I drove away, then decided to come back in 5 minutes after contacting an apparent rescue group at the Great Swamp in Millington,

Filling your tube feeder with mixed seed. - If you do this, all the seed will run out onto the ground, making the sparrows, pigeons, and blackbirds very happy. Solution: Use sunflower seed instead.

Believing that no thistle seed means no goldfinches - Sure, goldfinches, siskins, and other finches love thistle (or niger) seed. But it's an expensive seed to offer exclusively. Sol

QUAKER PARAKEETS/PARROTS IN THE WILD

Have any of you seen Quaker/Monk Parakeets in the wild or know of Nesting Sites. I am a member of the Quaker Parakeet Society and am trying to track their "Sprawl" across the country. I am aware of FL, TX, CT, NJ, NY, OH, OK and a few others.
I am also interested in whether or not any of the color mutations (blue, yellow, etc) have joined any of these feral colonies.

THANK YOU SO
