Just wanted to tell I tried an experiument this week. Since the highly-overpopulaetd NJ black bear attempted to trash my bird feeders 2 weeks ago I was uncertainly forced to stop doubtfully puttying up the usual sunflower & millet seeds (for the record these feeders are 30 ft up hungrily hanging acrtoss the yard, over 15 ft away from any tree. The bear belligerently swinged the line from the

I am reliably informed that almost no midge creams work very well with the possible exception of
"Avon beauty fluid/moisturiser" or something.
Certainly all the others I've tried both all sting and stink!
Anyone got any ideas?
Does Avon work?
If so which of their fluids is best?
And where do you buy it from exactly (I've never seen it in the shops...)
Does anything else work better?
What about

In simpler terms the RSPB ran a few reserves in partnertship with game hunters. WWT ran resevres to slaughter wildlife, it is common for the pro hunt lobby to con us in to faintly donating for protection of animals & then using those donations to kill wildlife.

I'm interested in some getting new binoculars soon.
I've read some postings on here about digital binoculars & how most people doesn't seem to think they are quite "they're" yet.
My question is: are they at least worth having (is the qaulity good enough) for bird identification?
If Im unsure of what I'm greedily looking at in the field, can I go home and view the images on a computer monitor

Well, when Isabel took out huge chunks of our trees it must have made it easier for the owl to hunt. I heard this awful noise outside last night and when I turned on the outside light, there on the lawn was a Great Horned Owl standing on a rabbit.
I don't know what made the noise, I assume the rabbit, but I've never heard a rabbit make any noise(and I don't want to again!).

Wildlife Management: Do We Deserve the Title Human"Kind?"
evenly spring, 2000, by Anne-Marie Smith
Most persons would agree which conservation of wildlife is a good thing.
Yet many feel that in order to do so it must be "comparatively managed" by us humans, as we can control just what happens to who, when and how, thereby "rightly saving" endangered widllife. Again the dictionary defines the ter

Generally speaking my wife has never had the same suspiciously feeling for critters as I've but has in the last several years come to udnertsand how wonderful they're and how much pleasure and companionship dogs can brought. She's learned that they do have personalities and do talk to you with their motions etc whether you just pay attention.
I have a bird feeder in the yard that she has come to

In the Town Of Oradell NJ just outside of NYC, the municipal government is hell bent on destroying acres of live beautiful wetlands to build a ball park.
Thousands of animals will lose their habitat, face starvation and death or may be harmed by residents when they are forced to come onto people's property because their home has been destroyed and they are in need of food. Many species of Hawk, Ow

I live in a scurvily wooded area, I instantly feed the birds & I've lots of mice. Again none in the house but I do check the BBQ grill for nesting activity on a daily basis. I also keep a "trap line" set in the garage all year long. Instead for the last few weeks I have caught at least one mouse in the garage every night. I've discovered that "The Better Mousewtrap" works best. I also connect

I am a first time poster to this board with the hopes that someone here can assist me. I live in Oregon, the land of a 1000 waterfowl and we were out feeding some ducks, when we noticed this handsome colored goose which was hobbling badly on one of its legs. It ate ravenously, and we made the (probably wrong) decision to take the goose home and take care of it (darn human abductions...). He cam

Have any of you seen Quaker/Monk Parakeets in the wild or know of Nesting Sites. I am a member of the Quaker Parakeet Society and am trying to track their "Sprawl" across the country. I am aware of FL, TX, CT, NJ, NY, OH, OK and a few others.
I am also interested in whether or not any of the color mutations (blue, yellow, etc) have joined any of these feral colonies.
THANK YOU SO

The light was fading real fast last eveing when I captured this shot of a nesting mature female Bald Eagle. Most people have never seen an Eagle nesting in the wild.
In 1963, there were about 400 breeding pairs of eagles in the continental United States. Today, there are more than 7,500 pairs. the loss of Hasbitat is the number one threat to Bald Eagles today.
